ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani naval frigate ASLAT arrived in Jordanian Port of Aqaba on Monday for a friendly visit and overseas deployment to Mediterranean and European countries. Reportedly, the Pakistani naval commanders and their Jordanian counterparts exchanged gesture of goodwill to strengthen and facilitate friendly and defensive ties between Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Kingdom of Jordan. Meanwhile, the commanding 25th Destroyer Squadron of PN Fleet Muhammad Faisal Abbasi held meetings with Brigadier General Ibrahim Salman Al Naimat, Commander Royal Jordanian Naval Force, HE Major General (Rtd) Junaid Rehmat, Ambassador of Pakistan Mr Salah Ali Abu-Afifeh, Jordan Maritime Commission Director General Dr Emad Hijazeen, Aqaba Deputy Chief Commissioner and Deputy Governor of Aqaba Ibrahim Al Najadat. Jordanian dignitaries also lauded Pakistan Navy’s efforts in combating piracy by exercising counter-piracy operations to maintain peace and stability in the region. A reception was hosted onboard wherein Brigadier General Ibrahim Salman Al Naimat, the Commander of Royal Jordanian Naval Force graced as chief guest. In addition, Commander of Civil Defence of Aqaba, Members of Parliament form Aqaba, Defence Attaches of Czech Republic, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Poland and USA, Officers from Royal Jordanian Naval Force and Jordanian Army and Pakistani Diaspora attended the dinner. The ship was also opened for visitors and a large number of local community including Pakistani expatriates in Aqaba visited the ship. Joint PN-RJNF boarding drills and procedure exercises were held onboard to enhance interoperability and acquire mutual benefit by sharing each others’ experiences.
