QUETTA: The Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Monday disqualified Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) provincial leader Ali Madad Jattak from contesting the upcoming General Elections. Previously, Jattak challenged Returning Officer’s (RO) decision, of rejecting his nomination papers, in the appellate tribunal, however, the tribunal upheld the RO’s decision. He then took the matter to the BHC. Today, a two-member bench heard the petition filed against the tribunal and overruled it by disqualifying PPP’s leader and declared him ineligible of contesting polls. In 2013, Jattak was charged 10,000 rupees and two-year prison in a fake degree case. In 2008, the PPP leader was elected as a member of the Balochistan Assembly.
