Sindh Caretaker Chief Minister (CM) Fazlur Rehman said, on Friday, that the civic bodies of Karachi should ensure cleanliness and provision of necessary facilities around areas where polling stations would be set up. The CM, while talking to Mayor Waseem Akhtar, at CM House said that he had already directed local bodies to ensure cleanliness of their respective areas including repairing of roads and drainage system. The CM said that ensuring cleanliness around polling stations was of utmost importance. He added that most of the roads in city had been reconstructed but streets and lanes were overflowing with sewerage water in parts of city. The CM said that efforts needed to be made to ensure that the voters face no hindrance in reaching their polling stations and casting votes. Waseem Akhtar told the CM that he would ensure proper maintenance of roads and drainage system and would also coordinate with other local bodies working in city for cleanliness and repair work. He informed the caretaker CM that cleaning of nullahs and storm water drains had already been started and work would be completed within the next few days. Visit to SMB Fatima Jinnah Government Girls School Later on Friday, Fazlur Rehman visited SMB Fatima Jinnah Government Girls School and lauded the efforts of Shahzad Rai for making the school a model institution. During his visit, he was shown different classrooms, computer lab and science laboratory of the school. He went through the content of textbooks content being taught in school from pre-primary level onwards and termed it “impressive”. Shehzad Roy briefed the CM about modern teaching methods adopted at the school. Shehzad Roy also discussed plans for the improvement of school syllabus. The CM promised his support to Shehzad Roy and praised him for providing quality education to children. Meeting with the German Ambassador Caretaker Chief Minister also met the Ambassador of Germany, Martin Kobler at CM House on Friday and discussed matters of mutual interest including bilateral trade and on-going election atmosphere in the country.
