Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Nisar Ahmed Khuhro’s nomination forms were rejected barring him from contesting in the upcoming general elections. The Sindh PPP President was contesting from PS-11 Larkana and the returning officer (RO) had initially accepted his nomination forms. However, the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) member Moazzam Abbasi challenged the acceptance of his nomination papers in the election tribunal. According to Moazzam Abbasi, Khuho had concealed details about his family. An appellate election tribunal on Wednesday rejected his nomination papers. According to the details issued by the election tribunal, Khuhro’s nomination papers were rejected because he listed two wives and four children as his dependents instead of three wives. He also did not mention his agricultural land in his nomination papers. Khuhro said that he will approach the Sindh High Court (SHC) and file an appeal against the decision of the tribunal. He said that he did not conceal anything in his nomination papers, and hoped that justice will be done. However, his opponent, Moazzam Abbasi, also vowed to challenge him in court making it unlikely to compete in the elections. Khuhro’s daughter and PPP Larkana district general secretary Khair Muhammad Shaikh have submitted forms as his covering candidates. Published in Daily Times, June 28th 2018.
