KARACHI: People of Karachi and politicians took to social media and other platforms to voice their disapproval of Shahbaz Sharif’s statements regarding Karachi. “Shehbaz Sharif should apologize to the people of Karachi for his offensive remarks as soon as possible,” said Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Farooq Sattar. PTI leader Imran Ismail also criticized Shahbaz Shariff for his remarks “Shahbaz used awful words because he has no knowledge about Karachi’s traditions,” said Imran Ismail. The senior vice chairman of Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) advocate Anees said that Shahbaz Shareef was bigoted towards the people of Karachi and he must apologize for his biased statement. He added that Shahbaz Shareef should stop considering himself a lord. Anees said that Shahbaz Shareef should use appropriate language as such types of narratives promote hatred in provinces. Farha Khan, a resident of Karachi said that Pan was a part of Karachi’s culture and Shahbaz Sharif should not have not have used such language. Tahira Alam, a lecturer from Aisha Bawany Academy told Daily Times, “I observed that people were fond of chewing Pan in Punjab too. I want to ask Shahbaz Sharif if Pan is banned in Punjab”.
