LAHORE: Appellate tribunal on Tuesday cleared former Foreign Minister and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Asif and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) leader Firdous Ashiq Awan to contest upcoming elections from Sialkot. Previously a petition was filed against the candidature of Khawaja Asif from NA-73 Sialkot-II constituency, citing that he is not eligible of contesting because he had not fully disclosed his assets to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), however, the petition was rejected on Tuesday. On the other hand, a petition was filed against Firdous Ashiq Awan citing that she did not fill the column to hide the details of her marriage and offspring. Whereas, Justice Syed Shahbaz Ali Rizvi rejected the petition allowing her to contest elections from NA-72 Sialkot-I constituency.
