LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesman Fawad Chaudhry on Monday alleged that former chief justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Chaudhry and his family were involved in corruption and demanded the National Accountability Bureau to take notice of it. In a press conference, the PTI spokesperson alleged the family of the former chief justice was involved in fraud and should be proceeded against. Chaudhry questioned how the former chief justice became the owner of so many properties despite claiming that he was not taking salary during his stint as the top judge. It might be mentioned that the former chief justice’s political party, Pakistan Justice and Democratic Party, had challenged the nomination papers of several PTI candidates, including party chief Imran Khan. The PTI spokesperson continued that the party did not accept the massive reshuffling in the Punjab bureaucracy. Chaudhry claimed that the recently posted district police officers and deputy commissioners were sympathetic to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz. He urged the Punjab chief secretary and inspector general to review their decisions, “otherwise we’ll go to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).” Talking about Sindh, the PTI leader said a similar situation existed in the province where postings were made on “Bilawal House’s orders”. Giving an example, he said Pakistan People’s Party supremo Asif Ali Zardari’s brother, Fazlullah Pechuho, was still serving in Sindh as a secretary. Chaudhry also criticised the Sharifs and said that new properties of the Sharif family was being unearthed on a daily basis. He stated that Imran and other members of PTI were praying for Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, who is undergoing medical treatment in London. The PTI leader also called for the registration of a case against former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi for allegedly helping absconding former finance minister Ishaq Dar flee the country in his plane.
