PESHAWAR: Three pairs of tigers reached at the Peshawar zoo on Monday morning from South Africa, who are said to have the capability to adapt any environment and weather. The zoo authorities informed that from among these three pairs of tigers, one pair eats six to seven kilograms of meat. In addition, 30 birds, one Nilgai (an antelope endemic to Indian subcontinent), a snow leopard, a fallow deer and a monkey are also included. Furthermore, 12 zebras are expected to reach at the zoo in coming few days, authorities explained. Peshawar zoo was inaugurated in February. Since then, more than forty animals and birds have died according to the latest survey. Previously, a survey report prepared in May showed that more than 34 animals died at the Peshawar zoo. This report was compiled by the investigation committee to probe the animals deaths in zoo.
