LAHORE: Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) President Malik Tahir Javed on Saturday inaugurated the modern system for issuance of online membership to the business community. The LCCI Vice President Zeeshan Khalil and LCCI executive committee members were also present on the occasion. Development of this system is a part of the LCCI ongoing digitalisation drive and a giant leap towards the hurdle-less business environment. The online system will save precious time of the business community as now they can apply for the LCCI membership while sitting at their offices and homes besides submitting their documents. LCCI President Malik Tahir Javed said that this initiative has been taken to bring the LCCI at par with the chambers of commerce in the developed world. To expedite the processes, an upgraded system has been put in place. This system will help strengthen data feeding and communication with the LCCI members. He said that the LCCI will continue to facilitate its members in the larger interest of the trade, industry and economy. The LCCI president urged the LCCI members to get full advantage of the LCCI online services. He said that in today’s world, IT knowledge is of prime importance as not only it unlocks the doors of progress and prosperity but also provides a chance to get access to global opportunities. Malik Tahir Javaid said in the knowledge race in the 21st century and rapid globalisation, the quality of information technology-based education has to be enhanced to bring it at par with international standards for bringing the country out of economic mire. To achieve the goal, the government would have to spend more on education as the existing budget is too meagre to produce desired and required results. LCCI VP Zeeshan Khalil said that facilitation desks of the National Database & Registration Authority, Traffic Police, Lahore Electricity Supply Company, Federal Board of Revenue, Small & Medium Enterprise Development Authority and Excise & Taxation at LCCI are already providing best services to the business community. The LCCI will continue to provide modern facilities to its members. Published in Daily Times, June 24th 2018.
