PESHAWAR: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Saturday released the asset details of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Siraj-ul-Haq, saying that the JI chief has declared before the electoral body that he holds net assets worth Rs2.9 million. The affidavits attached to his nomination papers revealed that Haq, a candidate who would be contesting election for NA-7 constituency of Lower Dir-II, also owns 4.5 tolas of gold, 12 kanals of jointly-owned land and a part ownership of a private school. Furthermore, the declared assets mentioned that he made no investments abroad, owns no car or immovable assets abroad. However, he lent Rs 1.05 million to a Peshawar-based cloth merchant. Haq listed his wife and a son as his dependents in the document submitted to ECP. Asset details of political bigwigs The ECP published asset details of many influential politicians earlier this week. According to details issued by the electoral body, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari owns net assets worth more than Rs758,669,073 while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan owns net assets worth Rs38 million. Moreover, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz declared ownership of assets worth Rs845 million, whereas, PTI leader Aleem Khan owns net assets worth Rs918,278,855.
