KARACHI: The greenback moved higher in value against the rupee in the interbank and shed value in open market. The greenback closed at Rs 121.45 for buying and Rs 141.65 for selling, gaining 10 paisas. The rupee is likely to remain under pressure because of rising demand by the corporate sector for its import payments. Banks are failing to meet their demand, which puts the rupee under pressure. The euro closed at Rs 141.05 for buying and Rs 141.25 for selling, gaining Re 1. The pound sterling closed at Rs 160.56 for buying and Rs 160.86 for selling. It improved value by 80 paisas. Kerb market: The dollar ended lower in the open currency market. Demand remained dull from private sector buyers. The US dollar closed at Rs 123.75 for buying and Rs 123.95 for selling, shedding 25 paisas from previous session’s level. Earlier in the day it was trading at Rs 123.76 for buying and Rs 123.96 for selling. The pound sterling closed at Rs 162.25 for buying and Rs 162.45 for selling, it remained dull by 25 paisas.
