Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister Fazalur Rahman has urged K-Electric not to resort to unannounced load-shedding in the city. He issued these directives on Thursday while presiding over a joint meeting between K-E and Sindh Energy Department at the Chief Minister House. The meeting was attended by CM Principal Secretary Sohail Rajput, KE Board Chairman Tayyab Tareen, KE External Affairs Director Asmer Naeem, Energy Department Special Secretary Rashid Kazi and Energy Department Director Tariq Shah. The CM said that there should be uninterrupted power supply in the city and no unannounced load-shedding be resorted in the city. “Whatever the problems or issues the KE has would be taken care of,” he said. Tayyab Tareen told the CM that the power demand during peak hours of Ramadan reached 3,500MW while it was 3,200MW during last year’s Ramadan. The CM was told that the Sui Southern Gas Company was providing 190MMCFD gas to KE, therefore all its gas-based power plants were operating at their full capacity. It was also pointed out that over all seven hours load-shedding was resorted to in the city. The CM said that the process for general election was going on in full swing. He added that the election staff has also been mobilised, therefore necessary measure be taken to reduce load-shedding duration. Published in Daily Times, June 22nd 2018.
