Sir: A concentrated and well-coordinated effort between different law enforcement agencies in the country led to the restoration of normalcy in Karachi, and drastically improved the law and order situation in the metropolis. At times they might have come up short, but their will to succeed pushed them over the line and the current caretaker Prime Minister, former Justice Nasirul Mulk said as much, while presiding over a law and order meeting at the Governor’s House in the city. The prime minister rightly pointed out that these efforts should be continued in the future as well, so that the people of the city can keep reaping its benefits. Not only will Karachi now be able to hold free and transparent elections, where people can vote with no threat to their lives, but it can become an example for the rest of the country to follow. He further went on to praise the incredible efforts of the Army rangers, police and intelligence agencies that helped clean up the streets and also paid tribute to the brave martyrs of law enforcement who had given the ultimate sacrifice for the peace and security of the people of Karachi. Over the course of the meeting, senior official updated the PM with the current situation in the city, and duly informed him that the numerous ‘no go areas’ in Karachi had been completely eradicated , while law enforcement agencies had also managed to bring about a decrease in instances of terrorism, target killing, extortion and kidnapping for ransom. The caretaker PM also made sure to warn the people of Karachi that extra vigilance would be required to ensure that the upcoming elections would go by without a hitch. He also reiterated his desire to do everything in his power to make sure that the elections were held on time, in a peaceful and uncontroversial manner. All those people who gave up their lives and basic freedoms in order to help Karachi get rid of its many demons are heroes that deserve commendation. The city of our Quaid always deserved better and it is a relief to see this beautiful city restored to its previous splendor. I thank all the people involved in this endeavor, including the caretaker Prime Minister, and hope that this transformation can take place across Pakistan in due time.
