GUJRANWALA: The anti-corruption authorities on Wednesday lodged a case against a building inspector for his alleged involvement in corruption and misuse of power. Reportedly, a citizen namely Muhammad Atif filed an application accusing building inspector namely Yousaf Mughal of allowing illegal construction of commercial and domestic buildings without obtaining No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the department, causing a huge financial loss to government exchequer. An anti-corruption team found sufficient evidence against the accused to register a case against him. Meanwhile, further investigation is underway. Scrutiny process filters 106 candidates to contest election for 6 NA seats As the scrutiny process of nomination forms is completed, 106 candidates were cleared to contest elections for 6 national assembly (NA) seats while nine candidates were rejected. Meanwhile, nomination forms of 337 candidates were approved to contest elections for 14 provincial assembly seats while 18 candidates were rejected by the returning officers. Reportedly, 19 nomination forms were approved for NA-79, 15 for NA-80, 20 for NA-81, 24 for NA-82, 14 for NA-83, 14 for NA-84 while two forms were rejected for NA-79 and four for NA-80, respectively. Furthermore, 20 nomination forms were approved for PP-51, 24 for PP-52, 36 for PP-53, 21 for PP-54, 26 for PP-55, 19 for PP-56, 33 for PP-57, 29 for PP-58, 26 for PP-59, 20 for PP-60, 16 for PP-61, 24 for PP-62, 21 for PP-63 and 22 for PP-64, respectively. Moreover, 18 nomination forms were rejected all together restricting the respective candidate to contest elections for provincial assembly seats. Girl dies, her husband injure in attack over love marriage A couple, who recently contracted love marriage, was attacked on Wednesday killing girl on the spot while her husband sustained critical injuries. Reportedly, Naila married Azam one month ago against her family’s will. Meanwhile, Naila’s brothers forcibly entered their house and opened fire on them. Resultantly, she died on the spot while Azam sustained severe bullet injuries, and shifted to a hospital in Lahore. The area police have started further investigation into the incident. Four people injure in attack over old enmity At least four people sustained injuries on Wednesday after being attacked while offering ‘Fatiha’ over an old enmity at Morr Emanabad in Gujranwala. Reportedly, advocate Tanvir, along with his friends, were presnt in a ‘Qul Khwani’ ceremony when his enemies opened fire on them.
