Sir: According to American sources, there has been a drone attack on Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) leader Mullah Fazlullah in Afghanistan’s Kunar province. If this is true, then one of the worst monsters in the history of Pakistan is now dead. Fazlullah was hated in Pakistan because of his role in the 2016 Army Public School massacre as well as other terrorist attacks. Islamabad had long urged Kabul and Washington to kill or capture Fazlullah, and their inability to do so was seen as proof by many Pakistanis that the US and Afghanistan were not true allies to Pakistan. Now all three countries have an opportunity to come together to tackle the menace of terrorism. Pakistan should reciprocate America’s efforts by killing or capturing terrorists who carry out attacks in Afghanistan from Pakistan. Of course, Fazlullah’s death has not been confirmed by the TTP just yet. Usually, they confirm the deaths of senior commanders weeks or months after their passing.
