PESHAWAR: A commander of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on Sunday night was arrested while trying to flee to Dubai from Peshawar. TTP commander Maulvi Bahadar Jan was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) before boarding a flight to Dubai from Bacha Khan International Airport. Jan’s name was on the Exit Control List (ECL) due to which he was arrested just as the FIA personnel checked his documents. The banned religious outfit’s commander was wanted for involvement in various terrorist acts and was under the radar of the security forces, which successfully arrested him last night. Earlier on June 15, the United States (US) military had claimed that TTP chief Mullah Fazlullah had died in a drone strike, which was later confirmed to be true. Earlier on June 4, the Counter-Terrorism Department had arrested an alleged commander of TTP from City Railway Colony, who was reportedly the commander from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Buner district. Previously on May 5, the CTD had arrested four terrorists from Peshawar during search operation in SITE area and near University Road.
