A prize distribution ceremony was held at the Alhamra on Thursday to acknowledge what it was described as outstanding performance of traffic wardens during Ramazan. Cash prizes worth Rs 2.4 million were distributed among traffic wardens who performed their duties diligently. Appreciation certificates were also distributed among wardens. The ceremony was attended among others by SP (City) Asif Siddique, SP (Sadar) Sardar Asif, all divisional DSPs, sectors in-charge, lady traffic officers and more than 400 traffic wardens. Speaking on the occasion, Lahore City Traffic Officer (CTO) Rai Ijaz Ahmad said that all traffic officers and wardens performed their duty diligently during Ramazan. Referring to the Rasta App, the city traffic officer said more than 150,000 had downloaded the app to get online traffic services. He went on to say that modern equipment, including UPS, computers, biometric machines and e-challan facilities had been provided in all sectors of City Traffic Police. He also appreciated lady traffic wardens for improving the image of the department. Lady traffic assistant have performed tremendous duty during Ramazan. The CTO has said that a comprehensive traffic plan had been devised to ensure smooth flow of traffic during Eidul Fitr holidays. Under the plan, he said that two SPs, 12 DSPs, lady traffic wardens and more than 2,000 traffic wardens would perform duty during Eid days. He said that additional traffic wardens would be deployed at parks, open places, picnic points, mosques, imambarghas and graveyard in the city to ensure smooth traffic flow.
