GUJRANWALA: A 25-year-old youth’s dead body was recovered on Tuesday under mysterious circumstances from an under-construction building located at Ferozwala Road in Gujranwala. Reportedly, Awais was a labourer who was working at the site for the last six months. Meanwhile, the deceased’s father alleged that owner of the building murdered his son after Awais demanded salary from the owner. The peoples colony police have started investigation into the matter. Christians protest illegal occupation of community centre Dozens of men, women and children belonging to Christian faith on Tuesday staged a demonstration against police officers in front of the city police officer’s (CPO) office over favouring influential persons who occupied their community centre ‘illegally’. Reportedly, the protesters alleged that their community centre located at Rahwali was occupied while the local police supported the accused and did not take any action against them. Meanwhile, the police assured them that they would take action as soon as possible. Subsequently, the protesters dispersed peacefully. Passersby torture four youths over ‘flirting’ with girls At least four youths were captured and tortured by the passersby on Tuesday after they allegedly ‘flirted’ with girls in Garjakh area of Gujranwala. Reportedly, the girls were coming back home from the seminary when seven boys chased them. Meanwhile, passersby rushed and captured four of them while three other managed to flee from the scene. They tied them with an electric pole and tortured them. Later, they handed them over to Garjakh police. Protest against admin over failure to provide relief in Ramazan The residents on Tuesday held a protest against the district administration for failing to provide relief to the people in the Islamic month of Ramazan. Reportedly, the protesters gathered in front of Ramazan Bazar located at Fattu Mand area of Gujranwala. They chanted full throat slogans against the district administration. They alleged that even flour was not available in the market for the last several days. Later, the intercepted a vehicle full of flour packets and encircled it.
