Sir: The recent G7 summit in Canada and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in China revealed that the world as we know it is changing? Why? Because while the Western powers showed that they are divided and scattered in Canada, the SCO members showed that they are all on the same page, or at least willing to move forward beyond petty bickering. While US President Donald Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called each other childish names, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladmir Putin spoke of cooperation for mutual benefit. The SCO has also become an instrument to improve the ties between India and Pakistan. Presidents Putin and Jinping have both stated they are pleased that both India and Pakistan have become members of the organization for this very reason. Several Central Asian countries are also part of the SCO, including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Many experts on geopolitics have stated that this region will become a wealthy business and energy hub in the not-so-distant future. It is good to know that through the SCO, Pakistan will also be able to access it. I am quite glad that the East has finally started to free itself from the Western shackles it has worn since the Colonial era. United, we can all prosper.
