The caretaker government on Monday increased the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 4.26 and Rs 6.55 per litre, respectively. The new prices shall come into effect from today (Tuesday). The revised price of petrol and diesel would be Rs 91.96 and Rs 105.31 per litre, respectively. The price of light diesel was increased by Rs 6.14, while kerosene oil witnessed an increase of Rs 8.22 litre. Kerosene oil will now be sold for Rs 84.34 per litre. Meanwhile, the Federal Board of Revenue on Monday issued a notification for an increase in sales tax on petroleum products. Under the notification, sales tax on petrol was increased from seven percent to 12 percent. Likewise, sales tax on high speed diesel and light diesel was increased to 24 percent and nine percent, respectively. The implementation of new sales tax percentage will be applicable from June 12 to June 30. Published in Daily Times, June 12th 2018.
