GUJRANWALA: The District and Sessions Judge (DSJ) Nazir Ahmed Gajjana on Saturday paid a surprise visit to the central jail of Gujranwala. Reportedly, he inspected jail arrangements, women barracks, jail hospital, jail kitchen and children’s cell. He inquired prisoners about the facilities being provided by the jail administration and ordered to release 18 prisoners who were convicted of ‘minor’ crimes. Judicial Magistrate Ehsan Ullah and jail superintendent accompanied him. Police recover kidnapped youth The Dhulley Police on Saturday recovered a kidnapped youth and arrested two accused kidnappers. Reportedly, four assailants kidnapped Salman, a resident of peoples colony, and demanded ransom from his parents for his release. Consequently, the city police officer (CPO) Ashfaq Khan constituted a team under the supervision of station house officer (SHO) Noman Butter to investigate into the matter. Meanwhile, the team traced out the kidnappers, conducted a raid at a private housing society and arrested Faisal Mughal and Mohsin. Further investigation is underway. Three people attempt suicide over ‘minor’ issues Two women and a man on Saturday tried to commit suicide over ‘trivial’ domestic issues in Gujranwala. Reportedly, Musarat, a resident of Garjakh, quarreled with her husband, and swallowed poisonous pills. Meanwhile, Nisha, a resident of Emanabad, got disheartened after her parents abused her and swallowed poison. Moreover, Nasir, a resident of Shaheenabad, also swallowed poison.
