ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Friday condemned the scuffle between PTI and PML-N lawmakers which broke out yesterday after a National Assembly session ended. Speaking to media at a ceremony in Islamabad to inaugurate a monument built in memory of those who have lost their lives for democracy, Ayaz Sadiq said, “The parliamentarians have their heads bowed down in shame over the incident.” He said, “We have to see whether we are here to scuffle or solve the public’s problems.” He further said, “We will need to adopt policy of tolerance in the parliament and everywhere else. Today, we must pledge to strengthen our democratic institutions.” The aforementioned memorial, located in the lawn of the parliament, has been built to honour those who have sacrificed their lives to uphold the principles of democracy. On Thursday, an argument that started during the National Assembly session ended in a scuffle outside the assembly between PTI’s Murad Saeed and PML-N’s Javed Latif. After the session, Jawed Latif criticised PTI Chairperson Imran Khan’s statements against foreign players who had come to Pakistan to play the final match of Pakistan Super League 2017. The heated debate led to a scuffle between the two. Jawed Latif, later during the day, allegedly abused Murad Saeed’s family. There is a video on social media in which Latif can be heard making slanderous allegations against the female family members of Murad Saeed.
