KHYBER AGENCY: A sports gala and quiz competitions concluded at the Government High School (GHS) on Monday in Landi Kotal, a town in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) of Pakistan. The event was organised under the auspices of Education Office of Khyber Agency with the motto “every child in school” while all state-run schools of the sub-district participated in the competitions. In his address to the concluding ceremony, the Agency Education Officer (AEO) Jadoon Khan appreciated students for their remarkable performance in the sports and quiz competitions. “The students of government-run schools are by no means inferior to those who study at private institutions, if they are supported by adequate resources and teachers,” he asserted He revealed that KP Governor ordered an enrolment drive at the government-run schools and sports are its integral part to spread awareness among the parents, who have yet to admit their children to the schools. GHS Landi Kotal secured first place in the Volleyball competition as well as in quiz contests. Government High School Zen Tara secured first position in the speech competition while GHS Ghafoor Khan Kalley was runner-up. In Qirat competition, Government High School Zen Tara won first place. Later, Jadoon Khan awarded trophies and cash prizes to the winning teams of the competitions. Published in Daily Times, May 8th 2018.
