KHYBER AGENCY: Commandant Khyber Rifles, Col Umar Farooq assured tribesmen that the government will forthwith address their problems being faced by them after suspension of the Torkham border. Speaking to nominated jirga, comprising of the tribal elders, custom clearance agents and transporters, Col Umar Farooq said that restrictions policy being functional on the Western border is to secure the country from the possible militants’ offense across the border where they have established their sanctuaries. On the direction of the Federal Government, the Torkham and Chaman borders have been immediately sealed aftermath of the militants’ attacks in Lahore, Sehwan, Peshawar and Mohmand Agency to curtain further militancy acts and to ensure life and property of Pakistani citizens, He remarked. Unar Farooq assured them that their grievances would be convoyed to his highups for consideration. Prior to it, tribal elders, Malik Darya Khan, Malik Nadeem,Haji Khanzad Gul and President Custom clearing agents association, Hayatullah appraised the commandant of the situation erupted after the closing of the border. They were on the view that blockade of the Torkham border effect every sections of the tribal society and have left thousands of tribal transporters, clearing agents, labors, traders and shopkeepers. The border closing not only suffered the tribesmen but business across the country that needs to be resumed, they argued.
