MANSEHRA: PML-N lifetime president Nawaz Sharif on Sunday said that PTI Chief Imran Khan and PPP co-Chief Asif Ali Zardari used the backdoor to erase him from the equation because “they know they can’t beat me in elections”. “In 2013, Imran and Zardari failed to defeat us, so they used the backdoor to oust me from power. But, this time around, we will not only defeat them, but do so with a convincing margin,” Nawaz said while speaking to a rally in Mansehra. He continued that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief has himself accepted that the verdict against the former PM was “weak,” while pointing towards the attendees, Nawaz said: “If we are to change to verdict, we will have to do it via the National Assembly and for that purpose, I need your votes.” The former PM added that Pakistan is the property of 220 million people, and not of just a few. The 5 judges who ousted him, Nawaz added, are equally as respectable as the entire population of the country and that he has turned to the people’s court for the final verdict. “These people want to send me to Adiala Jail because they do not want the welfare of Pakistan. But I tell you, their conspiracies and agendas will never succeed,” he added. Criticising the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government, Nawaz said: “They promised that they would create a new KP. I have been to Abbottabad, Hawailian and now Mansehra, but all I see is the old Pakistan. I did not see anything new.” Nawaz claimed that had the KP been administered by Punjab CM Shehbaz Sharif, the picture would have been entirely different. The ex-PM also urged the attendees to “go after those who are stirring conspiracies” against Nawaz , adding that “they do not like people who work.”
