LAHORE: Former president Asif Ali Zardari Friday said that the Pakistan People’s Party’s alliance with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf was only for the Senate elections, adding that an alliance with the party can be formed again if needed. Addressing a gathering in Lahore, the PPP supremo said his party has no qualms being a part of the opposition as well, adding that his party has been in rule earlier too. “But, they haven’t seen the Prime Minister House yet … and they are in a hurry,” Zardari said, in an indirect jibe at the PTI. To a query related to the notion of ‘aliens’ meddling in political affairs, the PPP co-chairman said Nawaz Sharif would know better about the ‘outside beings’ as he had been in cahoots with them. “Mian sahib should describe what he means by aliens as he has been using this term since 1988. All aliens have moved along with him [Nawaz],” he said. On Thursday, Nawaz Sharif had claimed that he is not contesting against the PPP or PTI but ‘outside beings’. Interacting with reporters inside the accountability court hearing corruption cases against him, the three-time premier had said that the ‘outside beings’ are busy working on installing a parliament of their choice. Zardari said that Nawaz Sharif has weakened democracy and it is highly vulnerable in these times, adding that the PPP always struggled for the sake of democracy.
