ISLAMABAD: Former Premier Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz will not attend the Avenfield hearing taking place today in the accountability court. Reports suggest that the deposed Prime Minister and Maryam Nawaz will not come to court on account of bad weather. Mr Sharif’s son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar, meanwhile, addressed the media outside the court. Captain Safdar beseeched Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar to take suo moto notice of General (retd) Pervez Musharraf’s crimes, and to bring him to Pakistan to make him stand trial for his actions. Upon a media inquiry that questioned whether the government had the resources or the purview to undertake this task, Safdar responded by saying that Musharraf’s collaborators who are in Pakistan should be apprehended and should be held accountable.
