LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lifetime president Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday said that PPP co-chief Zardari had said that he was working on Nawaz’s orders, but “he should also explain whose puppet is he now.” “Asif Zardari said he was acting on my directions. Now, he must tell the public who puppet he actually is,” Nawaz said while responding to the statements of the PPP co-chief that Nawaz is more “cunning” than he appears. Earlier on Monday, Zardari revealed details of his tense relationship with former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, at a meeting with party leaders, a private TV channel reported. “We used to think that Nawaz was very innocent, but he is far more cunning and opportunistic than we thought,” Zardari said. “We kept on agreeing over the network of democracy, constitution and civilian supremacy. While we were engaged in politics, Nawaz was busy in trading,” he said. Zardari had also said that it was Nawaz who encouraged him for his ‘brick for brick’ speech but he later backtracked. The former PM, however, says that he had discouraged Zardari’s “brick for brick” speech and had also cancelled his meeting with the PPP co-spearhead for the same reason. “Zardari was in favour to condone Pervaiz Musharraf via an act of Parliament, but I was the one who opposed it,” he added. Nawaz also said that the PPP’s popularity is now only confined to a certain portion of Sindh and he must look into it rather than “mudslinging”.
