ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Wednesday said that the politicians deserve the same amount of respect as the army and the judiciary. “We deserve as much respect as the army and the judiciary. The CJP should refrain from uttering unpleasant remarks against us, since we have always done politics with dignity,” Ahsan Iqbal said while speaking to a seminar in Islamabad. The minister also challenged Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar to hold him accountable if there is any “evidence” against him over unmerited appointments of public servants. Speaking about the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Ahsan said that “there is no country in the world right now that does not want to invest in the project”. “The United States and countries from Europe want to invest in the CPEC. Development takes place via connections with countries and for that purpose, roads are vital,” the interior minister added. He also urged politicians, army, judiciary and the media to work together for the welfare of the people and prosperity of the country instead of “fueling the fire”.
