LAHORE: A suspect was arrested from Gujrat city on Tuesday who had been involved in facilitating human trafficking of three Pakistanis to Libya. As per sources, the three Pakistanis were sent to Libya in a boat, which later tipped over killing all the 32 passengers on board. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) informed that the absconding smuggler had been arrested. The accused has been identified as Shakeel. The police were searching for the accused as numerous cases had been registered against him. Human trafficking and smuggling are done for numerous purposes within Pakistan and even abroad. Both the issues have been on the rise in Pakistan since the past few years as the matter is barely on radar or lacks proper laws to curb human smuggling. The FIA has little capacity or jurisdiction to contain human trafficking or smuggling within the country due to poor legislative tools and resources.
