ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah said on Monday that a clash between the civilian government and the judiciary is problematic for the system. “I have always said that clashes between the country’s institutions are problematic for the system,” Khursheed Shah said while speaking to the media in Islamabad. “Nawaz Sharif should not utter remarks against the judiciary, while the CJP should also refrain from initiating a war of words,” Khursheed Shah added. Referring to the Supreme Court’s decision to withdraw VIP security of political personalities among others, Khursheed said that “the courts should not interfere in such matters because if anything happens to a politician, then the blame would be on the courts.” He continued that “Benazir was assassinated because Pervaiz Musharraf removed security, while Fazlur Rehman and Asfandar Wali were also attacked.” Khursheed also added that “we do face threats too” and that if anyone is harmed, CJP will be responsible. Commenting on former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, who returned from London after visiting ailing wife Kulsoom Nawaz earlier, the opp leader said that “I knew Nawaz would return, because if he didn’t, he would have lost his repute.”
