ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived in the capital from London with his daughter Maryam Nawaz on Sunday, after visiting his ailing wife Begum Kulsoom Nawaz who is undergoing treatment in the British capital. Both the former premier and his daughter, along with Mr Sharif’s son-in-law Captain (retd.) Safdar, will attend a hearing in the accountability court today (Monday). While addressing journalists after his arrival in Islamabad, Nawaz Sharif requested the country to pray for his wife’s health. Before leaving for Islamabad from London, moreover, Maryam Nawaz had tweeted that she and her father would attend the hearing taking place on Monday. The Nawaz family is currently facing three corruption charges in an accountability court in light of the references the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed against them. The references pertain to the ownership of Avenfield properties in the United Kingdom, and come in the wake of the Supreme Court’s verdict in the contentious Panama Papers case.
