KARACHI: Justice Ahmed Ali M Sheikh took oath as the chief justice of the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday. Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair administered the oath to the new head of the high court at a ceremony held on the high court premises. During a brief talk with media persons, the new chief justice resolved that he would fight against corruption. “It has played profound havoc with the country.” He added that actions would be taken against those found involved in corruption in the judiciary. Justice Sheikh was designated as the 23rd chief justice of the provincial high court after erstwhile chief justice Sajjad Ali Shah was elevated to the Supreme Court. Justice Shaikh will serve on the post till 2023. The judges of the SHC and office-bearers of SHC Bar Association and Sindh Bar Council, Karachi and Malir District Bar Associations and a large number of advocates were also present on the occasion. Justice Sheikh was born on October 3, 1961, in Larkana and studied law at Shah Latif University in Khairpur, whereas started law practice in 1990. He was elevated as additional judge of the high court on September 3, 2009. However, he was confirmed as a judge in 2011.
