Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar Saturday announced that he will hear Aasia Bibi’s appeal and issued instructions for the case to be fixed soon. Justice Nisar also asked the Punjab advocate general to consult inspector general of police and restore security protocol of Saiful Malook, the council for Aasia Bibi and four other blasphemy accused. Malook was also the prosecutor in Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer assassination case. During the hearing, the CJP said he personally knows Malook and his case for seeking police security is genuine. “Be ready as your appeal in Aasia Bibi case is going to be fixed soon … I myself will preside the bench,” he told the lawyer, adding that all criminal appeals in apex court will be decided by July. The CJP on Thursday had directed the federal and all provincial governments to withdraw police security within 24 hours of all unentitled people and to submit an affidavit attested by an oath commissioner in the hearing scheduled for April 23 in Islamabad.
