LAHORE: Heading a two-member bench of the Supreme Court at the court’s Lahore registry on Saturday, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar claimed that he would not tolerate any more delays in the ongoing smog case. The court also ordered the Smog Commission to present its report before the court on the 9th of June. The Lahore High Court (LHC) had constituted the Smog Commission on the 5th of January, following another winter season where damaging smog gripped Lahore and the surrounding cities. Dr Parvez Hassan who is the chairman of the Commission, was also present at Saturday’s hearing. A petitioner in the case argued that smog negatively impacts health and the environment. Thus, the government should take precautions to prevent it from spreading. The court also remarked that the order to combine all smog petitions would be given once the Commission presented its report.
