ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar on Monday declined a request by the Punjab government to enhance the security of the judges. A communiqué issued by the apex court stated that in the backdrop of firing incidents at the residence of Justice Ijazul Ahsan, the Punjab government wanted to enhance the security of the judges. The request was declined by the chief justice who stated that judges do not need additional security, the statement reads. The chief justice, however, stated that overall security in the country should be improved to benefit the common people, the communiqué concluded. Published in Daily Times, April 17th 2018.
