KARACHI: The Sindh Excise Department has collected Rs 47,206.41 million taxes on different heads from July to March 2018 as compared to Rs 42,189.13 million in the same period as last financial year. A meeting of excise, taxation and narcotics control chaired by Sindh Minister Excise & Taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawla was informed by secretary of the department Abdul Haleem that Rs 5,275.29 million were collected on motor vehicle tax head, Rs 36,180.20 million as infrastructure cess, Rs 287.89 million as professional tax and Rs 171.54 million as cotton fee. Besides the department also collected Rs 1,600.87 million as property tax, Rs 41.49 million as entertainment duty while remaining amount was received on heads of various taxes. The Sindh minister expressing his satisfaction over performance of the department asked officers to get target before current fiscal year. Minister was confident that with hard work department would achieve target. He announced that the staff of the department would be awarded accordingly.
