KHYBER AGENCY: Inauguration ceremony of the office of Agency Chamber of Commerce and Industry was held in Torkham on Monday. Federal Secretary of Ministry of Food Security Fazal Abbas Maken was the Chief Guest of the occasion. Chief Commissioner Food security Sayed Waseem-ul-Hasan, Vice-Chairman Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce Jawad-ul-Hasan Kazmi, Torkham Custom Office Additional Collector and number of traders participated in the ceremony. Fazal Abbas Maken raised his concern that except the border of Torkham, clearance regulation of imported food items was implemented all over the country. Food products imported from Afghanistan had been found to be contaminated by bacteria, toxins, viruses and parasites. Recently, clearance regulation had also been implemented at the Torkham border. He said that Pakistan aims for cordial trading relationship with Afghanistan but not at the expense of health of its People. He assured that pro-traders policies would be formulated to enhance the trading activities at Torkham border. Vice-President of Khyber Chamber of Commerce Haji Jaber Shinwari said that the establishment of Chamber ensures to solve their problems locally. He explained that exporters at the Torkham border had to get certificates from the FATA Chamber of Commerce in Peshawar. The set up of ‘local’ Chamber would allow them to acquire certificates at a nominal fee. At the end of the ceremony, Fazal Abbas Maken inaugurated the Office of Khyber Chamber of Commerce.
