KHYBER AGENCY: The political administration of Landi Kotal removed all the speed breakers erected at different sections of Pak-Afghan highway on Saturday. Landi Kotal Assistant Political Agent (APA) Niaz Muhammad informed that on the complaint of National Highway Authority (NHA) and the locals that the tribals who resided near the highway had made scores of speed breakers that affected the pace of traffic, a comprehensive drive was kicked off to wipe-out all unlawful speed breakers built at Charwazgai, School Chowk, Khuga Khel and others, on main Pak-Afghan and bypassing roads. To avoid any untoward incident, Levies personnel would be deployed at points where education institutions and densely populated areas were located to facilitate the tribesmen, the APA told. He maintained that the NHA had the authority to set up speedbreakers with technical lines where it was needed. A driver, Rahat Shinwari, appreciated the decision of the authorities and said that the unjustified obstacles not only delayed emergencies but would also damage vehicles.
