KARACHI: The prevailing calm in the Liyari is likely to prove short-lived as notorious gangsters have again entrenched themselves against each other. The sudden surged in the violence, gang war, has alerted the law enforcement agencies. On Saturday night at least 12 people were wounded in a grenade attacks in Lyari’s Brohi Mohalla, Singu Lane and Chakiwara areas. The injured were moved to Civil Hospital for treatment where one of the injured persons was said to be in critical condition. The area which was targeted with grenade is said to be a stronghold of Uzair Baloch and the attack was carried out apparently by the rival gangster group, DSP Zahid Hussain said. After the grenade attack police cordoned off the area. Meanwhile one notorious criminal was killed in ensuing encounter. In a similar attack few days ago, a person, Tanveer Bulaedi, was killed in incident of firing between rival groups.
