LAHORE: Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Thursday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan had a habit of raising false accusations. He said when Imran was himself summoned in court cases, he neither responded nor joined the proceedings. Shehbaz was addressing a press conference. “Imran has turned Faisal Subhan into a fictional character,” he said, referring to the PTI’s claim that PML-N government had made the CEO of Capital Engineering disappear because of the probe into corruption allegations in the Multan Metro Bus project. Speaking to the press earlier in the week, PTI chairman Imran Khan said that Subhan had confessed in front of the Chinese regulatory authority investigating corruption charges in the project that Shehbaz and his family received hefty kickbacks in their overseas accounts. Separately, CM Sharif said that his government’s mission had been to serve the public selflessly. “We have tried our best to fulfill the trust posed in us by the people in 2013, and due to our hard work and sincere efforts; we are successful in the court of the public today. “The people cannot be served through hollow slogans only. One has to burn the midnight oil to achieve this purpose. Niazi Sahib has just raised hollow slogans of public service, whereas the claimants of so-called change have totally ruined the KPK province. Due to it, Niazi Sahib is afraid to face the public’s court.” He expressed these views while talking to a delegation of lawmakers here today. Shehbaz said that his life and death would be among the people of Pakistan, adding that the development and prosperity of southern Punjab was very dear to him. “The PML-N government has not let the journey of national development stop despite all the sit-ins and lockdowns,” he said. Earlier, the delegation congratulated him on becoming the acting president of the Pakistan Muslim League-N. Those who called on the Chief Minister included MNAs Malik Sultan Muhammad Hinjra and Muhammad Ijazul Haq and former MPA Sami Ullah Chaudhry. In a statement, the CM strongly condemned unprovoked firing of Indian army at the Line of Control (LoC). He paid tributes to Sepoy Munir Chohan and Sepoy Amir Hussain who were martyred due to Indian firing and extended heartfelt condolences to their heirs. Shehbaz said that growing incidents of Indian violations along the LoC were high condemnable. The brave armed forces of Pakistan have full capability to give a befitting reply and the whole Pakistani nation stands united with our armed forces, he further said.
