LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif remarked over the condition of the province currently governed by the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) during a ceremony of the state run Rescue 1122. Speaking on the occasion, Shehbaz clearly targeted PPP without naming the party and said, “Those who promise to bring development in Punjab, should first pick up the garbage from the streets of Karachi” He further added “Even developed areas of Karachi like Clifton are cluttered with heaps of garbage,” he said, adding that once the issues in Karachi have been resolved, they are welcome to come to Punjab. “Let us know when you have returned the lights to Karachi, let us know when you decide to do away with corruption,” he said. “Come to Punjab after you return $60 million to the country,” Shehbaz added. The PPP has been trying to flex its political muscle for the past few months by visiting estranged voters and holding public rallies in Punjab while the Sindh government has found the promise of cleaning up Karachi very challenging during the past months.
