KARACHI: Karachi police on Sunday arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting his step-daughter in the outskirt of the metropolis. Police officials that the suspect identified as Sajid Panwar, a scrap dealer by profession, was arrested during a raid at his residence in Qazzafi Town in Shah Latif police precinct. SHO Ghaffar Shah said that the accused was arrested on a complaint filed by a woman to whom Panwar got second marriage about two years ago. The officer said that they found her six-year-old daughter in an unconscious condition after she returned to her home from a market, adding that the accused and victim were alone at the house when the incident took place. The SHO said that the victim was immediately rushed to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where doctors kept her report reserved, adding that the police registered a rape case against the accused on the basis of victim’s mother statement and circumstantial evidence, which suggested that the minor was sexually assaulted.
