LARKANA: The Chairperson, Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC), Justice (Retd) Majida Rizvi, visited Qambar-Shahdadkot and Larkana Hospitals here on Thursday. She checked the Neuro-Science Complex, Dialysis Center and Casualty Wards of Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH). Later she was briefed by Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr. Inayatullah Kandhro, in his office, about the problems faced by the hospital and the flow of patients, including shortage of medics & paramedics and replacement of old outdated machinery & equipment with new modern equipment. SHRC chief assured the MS of her full support, claimed the MS. Meanwhile, she said, while addressing growers of Naundero and adjoining areas that everywhere she had received complaints of non-availability of clean drinking water, education, electricity outages and healthcare. She said: “In the hospitals where 50 doctors are needed only, 20 are posted to work, due to which healthcare facilities are not reaching the people in the proper manner. The job of the SHRC is to pinpoint problems and issues of clean drinking water and healthcare system have been raised throughout Sindh.” Rizvi said speaking at an event organized by Sindh Chamber of Agriculture (SCA) in her honour in Naundero, near here, that problems of Balochistan, Punjab and KPK were different but after formation of a law against underage marriages, these weddings had reduced in Sindh. She said that the community will have to raise its voice where ever such incidents occur. She said, “We must report injustices committed anywhere by anyone and if we cannot do that, then we should highlight relevant issues through media so that authorities concerned can take strict action.” She said that the main reason of child deaths in Thar is also underage marriages because, according to her, these produce negative health effects and kids born are very weak who cannot survive. She asked the audience to give her written complaints for redressal and immediate action. When asked about non-recovery of two kidnapped kids namely Sahil Korejo of Naundero and Fazeela Qazi of Thul despite passage of so much time, she replied that a strong voice will have to be raised as to who is creating hindrances in their recovery after securing full details of both the cases.
