RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has on Tuesday said that peace in Afghanistan is necessary for development of the region. According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement, Gen Bajwa, while speaking to the Chiefs of Defence (CHOD) Conference held at Kabul said that the ‘path to regional peace & stability passes through Afghanistan’. He added that regions develop collectively. COAS, according to the issued statement, stated that Pakistan has eliminated all terrorist havens from the country. However, extremist elements are taking advantage of the 2.7 million Afghan refugees and absence of effective border security coordination between Pakistan and Afghanistan, he added. Gen. Bajwa also said that Pakistan will not allow anyone to use its territory against neighbouring nations and that the country expects the same in return.
