LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Thursday announced to pursue the case of former Punjab Police inspector Abid Boxer for extrajudicial killings on the behest of Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif. “Abid Boxer became notorious for execution of suspects without judicial trial in fake police encounters. He had become symbol of terror in 90s and had links with the international mafia and the underworld. Later, he was sacked from his post over the charges of fake encounters as well as corruption,” the PTI chairman told the media “Abid Boxer himself stated in recorded statements that he killed people in police encounters with the consent of the Punjab chief minister. His statements should be considered as his confession,” he said. Imran Khan said that he would seek court assistance to uncover the link between Shehbaz and Abid Boxer. “Abid left Pakistan after receiving a tip off that the Punjab CM wanted to kill him. He had to run abroad,” Imran Khan said. The PTI chief further stated that Abid Boxer had already said on record that he never killed people without the consent of Shehbaz Sharif. “So now, we will expose Punjab CM Shehbaz Sharif in the court in the Abid Boxer case. Due to fake encounters through police, the court declared the Sharifs as Sicilian Mafia,” he said. On the occasion, the PTI chief condemned the policy of staging fake encounters by Punjab Police. “During our party’s government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, not a single extrajudicial killing incident has taken place. Compare this to the recent reports of fake encounters in Punjab as well in Sindh,” he said. Published in Daily Times, February 9th2018.
