LAHORE: Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah on Tuesday announced that DNA of a suspect has matched the sample collected from Mardan rape and murder victim, Asma’s body. Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government had earlier sent 145 DNA samples of suspects to Punjab Forensic Science Laboratory for examination. Speaking to a press conference, Sanaullah said that DNA sample taken from a suspect, whose name has not been revealed for security reasons, has matched the sample collected from the minor’s body. The Punjab government has also communicated with KP government on the matter, said Sanaullah. Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Nisar took notice of Mardan rape and murder of a 3-year-old minor last month. He also criticised KP Police for ‘incompetence’ during the case hearing. The minor’s dead body was found in the nearby fields of her residence on January 14 in Mardan. Investigations revealed that the minor was raped and before being strangled to death.
