KARACHI: Former president Asif Ali Zardari and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday paid a rich tribute to the party’s founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto on the eve of his 38th death anniversary. In a message released by Bilawal House, Zardari said that Bhutto had made the masses the epicenter of political power. “Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto awakened the people and gave them the strength of hope and the hope of strength. He illumined the path traversed by the generations that followed him. No one can rob him of his great achievements.Indeed Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto stands tall as a beacon of light, hope and inspiration for the people,” he stated. Zardari said that Zulfikar Ali Bhutto gave the nation the gifts of a unanimous democratic constitution and a strengthened national defense. “This twin legacy of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto must be protected at all costs,” he affirmed. In a separate message, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that all the distractions and hurdles being created in the way of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s mission will be removed with the support of the people of Pakistan. “When the judicial murder of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and the assassination of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto could not deter us from his mission, how will victimizations, wild accusations and conspiracies stop us?” he argued. “A democratic, egalitarian, progressive, peaceful and model Muslim nation with each citizen enjoying equal rights is his philosophy. This is still being harshly resisted by dictatorial, political sharks and their puppets in the form of victimisation and sheer propaganda,” the PPP chairman stated. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari further said that the people of Pakistan and the world were anxiously waiting for the proceedings of the Presidential Reference for revisiting the judicial murder of a prime minister who had launched the nuclear programme and several key mega projects for defence and economic strength of the country. “One-man, one-vote, a passport for every citizen and opening new opportunities for Pakistanis abroad are among the few revolutionary steps that were taken and which laid sound foundations for a vibrant nation,” he said.
