LAHORE: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Tuesday observed 38th death anniversary of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto by holding several ceremonies and events in the provincial capital. Those PPP workers, who could not go to Naudero to attend the main gathering organised by the central leadership of the party, observed the death anniversary by holding individual ceremonies at their residences and offices. Zubair Dar, a PPP leader and former ticket holder of the party against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in constituency NA-120, held a prayer service at his residence on Mohni Road, while former PPP Lahore information secretary Faisal Mir held a special meeting at his office and paid tribute to the sacrifices of Bhutto family for democracy in Pakistan. In their separate statements, local PPP leaders, including Muhammad Ayyub and Amna Malik, stated that it was only the sacrifices of the Bhutto family by virtue of which Pakistan became a nuke power and a constitution, in written, was finalised. Separately, a splinter group of the PPP, led by Naheed Khan and Safdar Abbasi, held a ceremony to observed Bhutto’s death anniversary at their party office on Wahdat Road in which they paid tribute to ZA Bhutto and his daughter Benazir Bhutto. Pertinent to mention here is that some Europe-based Pakistani Christians also observed the Bhutto’s death anniversary by organising a special event in Spain that was organized by PPP Overseas Vice President Javed Iqbal Gill where PPP leaders from Pakistan, including Ch Manzoor and Napoleon Qayyum, addressed via telephone.
