KOHAT: Mujahidullah Afridi, the main accused in the murder of a medical student, Aasma Rani, has fled to Saudi Arabia, said police sources on Monday. Rani, an MBBS student at Abbottabad Medical College, was shot thrice by the accused, Mujahidullah, on Saturday for rejecting a marriage proposal, said the victims family. The victim also identified Mujahidullah as her murderer to the police before she succumbed to injuries in the hospital. He also alleged Mujahidullah of being involved in various other criminal activities. “They have not caught the criminals. I am a poor man but will come out onto the streets and protest. He (Mujahidullah) has also committed other crimes,” Aasma’s father said. Mujahidullah, who is a relative of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) district president Aftab Alam, waited for the victim outside her house along with his brother Sadiqullah Afridi, and shot her thrice as soon as she stepped out of a rickshaw, claimed victim’s family.
